Gift Ideas for Her.. Our Christmas Wish List 2018

Gift Ideas for Her.. Our Christmas Wish List 2018

We had every intention to write a “Gift Ideas For Her” post but as we started compiling the list, we realised it is basically our own Christmas Wish List lol! Although Christmas shouldn’t be all about spending money, it is undoubtedly nice to receive a gift from someone you love, whether it’s it your partner, best friend or someone in your family. When it comes to gifts, we certainly believe it is the thought that counts and honestly, you do not have to go out and spend a fortune on a gifts, it’s not the size of the the gift that matters, it is the size of the heart that gives it 🙂

As it it now only 14 days until the big day (seriously where does the time go?!) and some of you may already have all your presents sorted and some of you may not, we thought that we would compile a little list of what we would love to receive this year to give any of you that are struggling a bit of a helping hand. This is not a gift guide to say “This is the type of thing all girls would love” but more of an inspiration list for any of you girls (or boys) that are struggling to find nice gifts on a budget. The most expensive item on this list is £44 and if that is too much for any of you, bare in mind it is a full gift travel set and you can reduce the price by purchasing just one or two of the items in the set and gift wrap it yourself 🙂

Vegan Gingerbread Cake

Vegan Gingerbread Cake

Gingerbread men must be one of the most Christmassy treats you can possibly have right? In Sweden we are big fans of the traditional gingerbread men and we absolutely love ginger so we thought we would try to make a gingerbread man flavoured cake, vegan style! To make this recipe slightly healthier, we have replaced some of the sugar with agave syrup and a mashed banana which will make this cake really moist (sorry, the only word we could come up with to describe the cake 🙈)

We are all for making easy, slightly healthier and comforting recipes so this one is no different.

What you need

  • 150 g self raising flour
  • 60 g soft dark brown
  • 1 mashed banana
  • 100 gram of dairy-free butter
  • 1/2 tsp ground ginger
  • 6 cubes Crystalised Ginger Stem
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp bicarbonate of soda
  • Pinch salt
  • 1/2 (120ml) cup of agave
  • 180 ml water
  • 1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

The Christmas sweater – The Ugly Edition

The Christmas sweater – The Ugly Edition

Christmas jumpers, you either love them or hate them but the Christmas sweater has become a big tradition in England.

Katrin – In Sweden we don’t really make such a big deal out of it, although we do wear them it seems like it’s a bit of a craze here to wear a really “ugly” Christmas jumper so I started wondering if there was something more to it. Eventually I had to ask a friend and that’s how I found out about the so called “The Ugly Christmas sweater day”. You may have heard about the Christmas Jumper day which is on the 14th December where you are encouraged to wear a regular Christmas jumper to work to raise money for charity. The Ugly Christmas Jumper day is just the same only to qualify, you need to wear an “ugly” Christmas jumper, the uglier, the better.

Friday, December 21st, 2018 is the so called National Ugly Christmas Sweater Day and its all about proudly wearing your favourite ugly Christmas sweater for the entire day. Thie regardless of circumstances so, wear it to school, to work, to your sister’s wedding. Got an important interview on Friday? Oops, tough 🤞

You can buy a sweater from the charity Save the Children’s website and then you automatically donate to Save the children and if you already have your jumper you can donate to through Save the children anyway which we will do this year as we had already got our (although they are a bit more descreet 😂.)

Giving to others less fortunate is our way to spread some Christmas cheer and wouldn’t you agree that it be a lovey Christmas present to someone? If you fancy buying your jumper now and donate some money to Save the children we have compiled a list of our favourite ugly Christmas jumpers😊

Pinterest inspired Christmas table decorations on a budget

Pinterest inspired Christmas table decorations on a budget

Pintrest is the place to be for inspiration, right?. We are getting into the Christmas mood already and have so many ideas for things we like to do. The inspiration to this post started with us typing “Christmas decoration tables into Pinterest and after finding these gorgeous pictures we were hooked. We are currently a little bit obsessed with the festive mix of green and silver. There is something about this combination which makes us get into the festive spirit big time.

We also thought it would be fun to break away from the traditional Christmas red and go with a slightly more simplistic style which incorporates warm and colder tones.

Wouldn’t you agree that although these table decorations do not include your more “traditional” Christmas tones, they undeniable festive.

5 Things That Could Save Your Hair This Winter

5 Things That Could Save Your Hair This Winter

You can feel it in the air, winter is coming which typically means, plenty of “bad hair days” urgh!

We all know that having a bad hair day is the worst accessory for your outfit, wherever you are going and so keeping your mane in prime condition is pretty high on the priority list. As the weather changes, our hair tends to get frizzier, dryer, start breaking and generally not looking as glossy as it did pre-cold weather. Here are some great and easy tips you can do yourself to outwit the elements and keep your hair looking fabulous throughout winter.

Get a good trim

In order for your hair to look as good as it possibly can, say your goodbyes to any damaged and frizzy ends as a good trim can really help to improve the appearance of your hair. Get rid of damaged ends and grown-out colour and say hello to a healthier, fresher looking mane.

Use good quality hair-care products

Use a good brush for wet hair

You may have been told not to brush your hair when it’s wet as it will cause breakage. This is certainly true if you are using a regular brush as it will lot more tension on the hair strands but waiting until your hair is dry can take ages and by blow drying your hair, you will only add to the actual damage which obviously is what you are trying to avoid. No wonder when Tangle Teezer brought out their new Wet Detangler we knew that we would become obsessed.

“With 325 unique teeth that flex over tangles and knots with every single stroke, hair is quickly detangled confidently whilst helping to reduce breakage.”

The perfect tool for all you boys and girls who hasn’t got time to wait for your hair to dry naturally , wehey!

Nourish your hair from within

Nutrition plays a huge part in how your skin and hair looks and feels. A diet lacking in Vitamin A, C, B, Iron and Zinc will result in brittle looking hair which gets damaged easily. Fatty essential acids are also vital in order to keep your hair looking glossy. Eat plenty of vitamin rich foods such as broccoli, spinach, red and yellow peppers, pumpkin seeds (and pumpkins as they contain plenty of Vitamin A), salmon or if you are vegan, chia seeds. To ensure you get enough B vitamins and Iron choose brown rice over white and incorporate oatmeal, eggs and fortified bread or cereal.

Use a 100% silk pillow case

This means you can weather-proof your hair in your sleep. The theory with hair-friendly pillow cases is that strands glide against silk whereas they can catch or rub against other regular pillow case fabrics. The switch results in less frizz and fewer flyaways.

So there we have it, 5 things that can really help you keep the frizz at bay this winter. What are your favorite hair products? Please let us know in the comments below 🙂

Sustainable fashion Lindex SS19 – Making fashion feel good

Sustainable fashion Lindex SS19 – Making fashion feel good

As Swedes, our love affair with Lindex started when we were little girls as Lindex was the one place where you, your mum, her friends and even your grandma could shop. Lindex has always represented affordable fashion in Sweden without compromising on quality.

Emelie – I remember going into Lindex to purchase my first school disco outfit. I have such fond memories of that day as my mum took me shopping and we bought a pair of shiny black trousers and a little sparkly cami top. I felt like a princess.

About Lindex

“In 1954, two gentlemen from Sweden founded an era that would impact the lives of many women. Ingemar Boman and Bengt Rosell open the lingerie store Fynd in Alingsås.

It is one of Europe’s leading fashion brand, with approximately 480 stores in 18 markets. Lindex business concept is to offer inspiring and affordable fashion to the fashion interested and conscious woman. ”

As we moved from Sweden, shopping at Lindex became a distant memory and we only recently realised that we could find Lindex stores in London. How we missed that we don’t know but it was welcome news to us both.

Earlier this week we were invited to a press event held near Oxford Street in London where Lindex were showcasing some of their current collections, premium and future collections that will be launching next year. One of the collection launching in April 2019 will be Lindex very own Bridal collection. We had the pleasure to view the pieces and we have to admit were very impressed. With a very affordable price point without compromising on quality, the pieces were minimalistic, delicate and simply beautiful. Perfect for any bride to be. Lindex also offer a wide range of everyday lingerie as well as special occasion lingerie. We were also made aware that they offer an excellent fitting service so you can ensure that you get the correct size and fit and the the retailer has also just recently launched on the online fashion giant Asos.

Their non fast fashion approach

Fast fashion has become a term that has been mentioned more and more in the media in recent years. As consumers we have become increasingly concerned with making that the products we purchase are ethical produced and that the process has as little impact on the environment as possible. Lindex is one retailer that really is focusing on sustainability using recycled materials and their ethos is to produce fashion that is inspiring, affordable and made
responsibly. “We are dedicated to achieving our 2020 goal of making 80 per cent of our garments from more sustainable sources.”

It’s great to see a big retailer really making a conscious effort to make a difference and environmental causes isn’t the only way Lindex are trying to make a real difference in the world.

We Women

Women has always been the main focus for Lindex and in 2017 the retailer launched the We Women project contributing to a charity helping women. It is project where Lindex take action for gender equality in the supply chain and work to create more equal and inclusive workplaces. We are thrilled to see a retailer taking this kind of responsibility and putting women at the forefront of their business.

SS19 And Lindex Occasion Wear Collection

We are so excited about Lindex collection launches in 2019 and as the festive is about to kick off season keep an eye out for a blog post coming soon where we will feature some of the absolutely amazing party wear pieces that we had the chance to check out at the event.
