Our Current Beauty Obsessions

As self-confessed beauty addicts, finding good quality beauty products is high on our agenda and we often get asked what kind of beauty products we are using. The honest answer is that it varies throughout the year. Our skin and hair changes all the time therefore, so does beauty regime.

Changing your skincare routine is just like changing your wardrobe. You wouldn’t wear a summer dress and a light trench coat in January, so why would you use the same skin and hair care products in winter that you used in the summer? Mixing it up according to your hair and skins needs is something that has worked for us in the past although we think that we’ve discovered some really good products that will feature in our routine throughout the year. We thought we’d share our 7 current beauty obsession we have recently discovered which are all-round good products which will help combat skin concerns such as signs of ageing, dull looking skin and help improve skin texture.

Riley Sunday Luna Sleeping Night Oil £45 www.harveynichols.com

This is one of the best facial oils we’ve tried in a really long time. Sunday Riley’s ‘Luna’ is a retinol-rich night-time treatment which works to reduce signs of ageing whilst you sleep and leaves your skin looking plumper and firmer only after a few weeks using the oil. Apply it after using your cleanser in the evening. This oil is great for using under the eyes and can be applied all over the face too.

Dr Dennis Gross C + Collagen

£33 from www.net-a-porter.com

This serum has made the list mainly due to the impressive promises of the product and its ingredients. As we’ve only used this products for a few weeks we can’t comment yet on how good the product is in the long term but we have been seeing some promising results already such as brighter and plumper looking skin overall. We are excited to see further results after a month or so of usage. An updated review will follow soon 😊

Nip and Fan Glycolic Instant Fix Mask £12.95 from Boots

This may be one of our all time favourite products.

Emelie – I use it once a week to reset my skin after the working week. As our jobs require to wear makeup and different products almost everyday, our skin does needs a little bit of help to stay fresh. This 10 minute Glycolic mask will tightened your pores, smooth away the appearance of lines and wrinkles and leave your skin looking soft and dewy. If you have acne prone skin this will help really help keep your skin looking clear and healthy.

Nivea Skin Refining Scrub £3.99 from Boots

Katrin – This gentle skin refining scrub is great for removing dead skin cells, resulting in more rejuvenated and healthier looking skin. Although I’m currently travelling in Cape Town where the weather is really hot and sunny, it’s perfect for just refreshing the skin in the most gentle way. I use it everyday in fact as it’s not too harsh on my skin and I love the results!

SENHOR DO BONFIM salt water spray (We received ours from Glossybox UK) shop at www.glossybox.co.uk

Now this is a product that’s really had grown on us both.

Emelie – I tend to find salt water sprays quite sticky and they normally make my hair a bit stiff and hard to work with. Yet this product is no way near as sticky as any of the other salt water sprays I’ve tried before.

Katrin – I’m in love with this spray. I’ve used it pretty much every day whilst I’ve been in Cape Town and it makes my curls stay for days without having any other products in it. The biggest plus is that it saves me from using hairspray etc. Perfect for that tousled beach babe look.

Nivea Q10 eye cream was£11 now £5.50 from Ocado

Katrin – I love this eye cream! I’ve used it for a few weeks now and I can really see a difference already. It keeps my under eye area moisturised and plump plus it’s such a bargain. I have used Niveas products ever since I was a teenager and think it may be my all time favourite eye cream. I apply it after I’ve cleansed my face and used the Nivea Skin refining scrub every evening.

Noughty To The Rescue Anti Frizz serum £8.99 from Boots

Emelie – This serum is my go to product pretty much every single morning. Its a silicone-free serum that contains 97% natural ingredients and will keep your hair from drying out and end up frizzy. The “To the Rescue ‘ serum will banish any frizz when used in both dry and wet hair. I love using a little bit in the ends as I come out from the shower. Doing so protects my hair before I blow dry it and keeps it from going frizzy. If I decide to curl my hair that day I use it to finish off the look which makes the curls look really smooth and glossy. The best thing about this serum is that it does not weigh your hair down or make it greasy which I find that most hair serums tend to do.

We are currently on the hunt for new vegan friendly beauty products so we’d love to hear from you if you have any recommendations or any suggestions on brands you’d like us to try out.

Until next time,
