Life isn’t perfect, but your hair could be”
How many of you would say that your hair is in perfect condition and that you never suffer from that dreaded “bad hair day”? I would guess that unfortunately most of you wouldn’t agree with the above statement, and keeping your mane in perfect condition can feel impossible at times (trust us, we feel ya!!)
We believe that great hair is your best accessory, but external and internal forces can take there toll on our hair and it feels pretty darn hard to keep our barnet in perfect condition. Working as models we do have our hair styled in different ways, use different heated tools and products which damage the hair further. Not to mention all the backcombing, ouch! Using heat protection and good quality hair products is crucial, but have you ever considered how important what you eat is to your hair?
How does diet play a role?
Hair is made out of a tough protein called Keratin and hair follicles anchor each hair into the skin the base is made of something called the “hair bulb” where living cells divide and grow to build the hair shaft. These cells need the right nutrients in order to divide and grow. The hair cells require a balance of proteins, complex carbohydrates, iron, vitamins and minerals in order to function at their best. This also applies to our skin, if we do not supply our bodies with the right nutrients how can we expect our hair and skin to look healthy?
Many of us lead super busy lifestyles, so to contemplate all the nutritional requirements can be hard, and at times it feels impossible to make sure you eat the right things to keep your hair and skin healthy. Ain’t nobody got time for that!
How can supplements help and which ones should you take?
Sussing out the right type of supplement can be an absolute minefield. There are so many products out there with big promises, how are you supposed to know which to go for? Earlier this year, Katrin landed a campaign with Gold Collagen for their new and exciting product launch. I (Emelie) had already tried their Pure Collagen range so I was super excited as this is a brand that I have been really loving for a while. When Katrin told me that she was shooting their campaign for their new “HairLift” range I was even more excited. Taking supplements for your hair isn’t something new and groundbreaking, but what Gold Collagen was offering was a little bit different, a supplement in liquid form that would improve both your hair and skin.
The Collagen HairLift range has been specifically developed to nourish both the hair and skin from within, and to ensure that you give your hair the nutrients it needs for staying strong, healthy and shiny.

Research has shown that liquid supplements are far superior to taking tablets so this was really exciting for both of us. As mentioned before our profession really gives our hair and skin a hard time, so we were really keen on testing this out.
We are not going to lie, the first time we tried it the taste wasn’t unpleasant but we wouldn’t say it tasted yummy either, but after having it a few times we started to really enjoy the taste.
For best results drink one bottle (30ml) daily on an empty stomach for easy absorption. Alternatively, you can consume the product after meals if you experience indigestion or gastrointestinal upset.
Caffeine is thought to affect the body’s absorption of collagen so it’s best to avoid having any caffeine an hour before or after having your collagen drink.
We have been religiously taking our Gold Collagen HairLift supplement for over 6 weeks now and we have noticed some fantastic improvements both with our hair and our skin. I (Emelie)have noticed that I lose far less hair in the shower and when brushing my hair. It also feels a little thicker and has developed a healthy shine, which is super exciting. I tend to style my hair quite often and therefore my hair is prone to breaking and looking dull, but after my 6 weeks trial, I really have noticed a difference. I will continue taking the supplement just one bottle a day, nothing else required. I tend to take mine just before going to bed.
Katrin – I agree, my hair feels so much healthier, shinier and I have noticed that it is looking thicker too! I really love the fact that it is so simple one bottle a day, plus they are a great size for travel!
Would we recommend Gold Collagen?
100%! It is a great supplement which is easy to take and after only a trial period of 6 weeks we have already noticed a difference, we can’t wait to see what happens after 12 weeks.
